We pursue not only resource circulation in the product production process, but also eco-friendly practices in everyday life through voluntary employee participation.
Miracle Routine saves the environment with small habits
Samsung Electro-Mechanics employees actively engage in eco-conscious practices in their daily lives through the Miracle Routine campaign. Miracle Routine is a campaign launched in 2020 to properly dispose of office waste by separating it into five recycling bins. With this campaign, cartons and milk cartons have been recycled into toilet paper and donated to the socially vulnerable. In 2022, 1,080 kg of cartons were collected through the Miracle Routine campaign participated by Samsung Electro-Mechanics employees, from which 540 rolls of toilet paper were donated to Suwon City Nursing Home. Miracle Routine, which saves the environment with small habits, will continue in 2023.
Blue Elephant dolls made of upcycled cotton
The Blue Elephant, a youth cyberviolence prevention project, is Samsung Electro-Mechanics' representative social contribution activity. At the end of last year, 1,000 employees, including CEO Chang Duckhyun, participated in hands-on volunteering to make upcycled Blue Elephant dolls. Upcycled cotton made from waste plastic bottles was used in the PUCO doll, the main character of Blue Elephant. The 1,000 dolls made by SEM employees were donated to the Blue Tree Foundation and will be used as souvenirs for cyberviolence prevention education and campaign activities.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics acquired the Zero Waste to Landfill certification for all plants in July and won the Presidential Award as a Leader in Resource Circulation with Outstanding Performance in September.
